William W. Pugh family plantation records, 1852-1912 (bulk 1903-1908).

This manuscript group consists of documents, volumes, maps, and survey plats. The primarily financial volumes reflect the debit and credit accounts of Woodlawn, Himalaya, and Mount Lawrence plantations, and Woodlawn Planting & Manufacturing Co. The correspondence and unbound financial papers in this group originally were interleaved among the pages of the volumes themselves and represent a negligible portion of the total collection. Legal papers include an 1858 petition to the Louisiana Legislative Committee on Banks and Banking from the mortgage stockholders of the Citizens' Bank of Louisiana; the legal volume contains the minutes of the Woodlawn Planting & Manufacturing Co., Board of Directors' meetings. The township and range plats, sketch maps, and associated notes depict land holdings, especially of the Pugh family, in Assumption Parish. Financial volumes include cashbooks, ledgers, record books, and a time book.
